Massage Therapy

Massage is well recognised as a therapeutic healing treatment, helping to relieve pain and ease discomfort. It also has calming and stress relieving benefits, as it can both sooth and invigorate the body.

Modern massage therapy consists of a group of manual techniques that include applying fixed or movable pressure to the body.

These techniques affect the muscular, skeletal, circulatory, lymphatic and nervous systems, aiding the ability of the body to heal itself and increasing overall health and wellbeing.

Sports Massage

A deep massage, particularly good at supporting athletes in preparing for exercise and competition. It is also good in aiding in their recovery afterwards. It is beneficial for non-sports people too, as it can help relieve minor aches and pains.

Remedial Massage

A therapeutic massage technique that aims to relieve muscle tension and treat chronic pain. It is also beneficial for the prevention and management of injuries. It works well in combination with other health professionals, as a part of a patient’s overall treatment plan.

Advanced Deep Tissue Massage

The application of firm pressure and slow strokes to reach deeper layers of muscle, reducing levels of resting tension and creating more efficient postural and movement patterns.

Swedish Body Massage

A more generalised massage routine, coupled with passive and active stretching techniques, for general well-being and relaxation.

Soft Tissue Therapy

A range of advanced hands-on techniques, to help with acute and chronic injuries. It aims at identifying the underlying causes of injury and offers a more long-term improvement in physical well-being, by increasing the body's healing potential.

Myofascial Release

A safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into restrictions in the myofascial connective tissue. This helps to eliminate pain and restore motion.

Hot and Cold Stone Massage

A massage therapy that involves the placement of a number of either heated or cooled stones on to the body, to help both ease pain and aid in relaxation.

Manual Lymph Node Drainage Massage

A unique and very gentle technique of skin massage that promotes and improves lymphatic drainage and circulation, thus reducing swelling and helping the body to detoxify.

Indian Head Massage

A range of different massage pressures and rhythms are applied to stimulate the head and neck area, including a gentle face massage to aid circulation, improve skin tone, and reduce sinus and headache problems.

Pregnancy Massage

A prenatal use of massage therapy to support the physiologic, structural, and emotional well-being of both mother and fetus. This may be applied throughout pregnancy as well as during labour and the postpartum period.

Reflexology

The stimulation of specific pressure points on the hands and feet that reflect and relate to different parts of the body. This is reputed to bring relaxation and healing to the corresponding area of the body being worked on, promoting good health.

Reiki

A very gentle Japanese hands-on technique for stress reduction and relaxation. It works on the principle of promoting healing by working on the "universal life force energy" that is said to flow through us all.
